Dr Robert Gibson is currently Publications Editor at the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
He has lectured in music at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the University of Regensburg and St Catherine's College, University of Oxford.
A regular speaker at Northside Opera Study Group, he has delivered guest lectures for the Royal Opera Covent Garden, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Sydney Festival, Melbourne Chamber Orchestra, Musica Viva and the Wagner Society in NSW among many other organisations.
He has written for Opera Australia, Victorian Opera, State Opera of South Australia, Opera Queensland, Friends of the Barcelona Opera House (Gran Teatre del Liceu), Hamburg Symphony Orchestra, Wigmore Hall, Aldeburgh Festival, Snape Proms, ABC Classics,
Australian Book Review,
Limelight magazine and many other organisations and publications.
A graduate of the University of Oxford (DPhil), he also holds degrees from the University of Sydney (MMus and BMus) and won the University of Sydney Medal for his MMus thesis on
Parsifal. His research interests include Wagner, Strauss, Mozart and film music.
